Stockholm Skavsta
An airbase during the II World War, the airport was used as a military airport until 1980, when it was taken out of service. In 1984, the city council of Nykoping, where the airport is located, decided to take over its control and resume its activities. Therefore, in 1998, the council put 90% of the capital of the airport up for sale with the objective of strengthening its commercial management and enabling investments for its expansion. tbi acquired this parcel of shares and began the transformation of Skavsta, which has become the second airport of Stockholm and the favoured option for inhabitants who live in the south of the Swedish capital.
With 2,5 million passengers annually, Stockholm Skavsta will reach 6 million passengers in 2020, according to the estimations of its Director of Planning.
How to get there
You can reach Stockholm Skavsta Airport by coach/bus, car, train or taxi. The airport is situated 100 km south of Stockholm, 7 km northwest from Nyköping - right next to the main E4-highway.

Stockholm Skavsta
Stockholm Skavsta is the third biggest airport in Sweden. The air links are generally low cost offering over 40 European destinations supplied by Ryanair and Wizzair. Stockholm Skavsta
Skavsta is located 5 kilometres from the centre of Nykoping, a town located 100 kilometres to the south of Stockholm. The airport has two runways, one 2,878 metres long and the other 2,039 metres long. It also has a terminal that can accommodate more than 2.5 million passengers, an indoor car park offering 650 spaces in winter and a total of 3,800 surface spaces. A new high-speed railway line will in the future connect Nyköping, the airport and Stockholm in just 35 minutes, which will give added value to Skavsta.
